The parks of Caucasian Mineral Waters

The great attention is paid to the questions of planting trees and shrubs in the CMW Resorts' region. The State Research Institute of resort had established that the sources discharge rises in connection with the growing forests in the vicinity of CMW. The former Soviet Government have decided to establish the institute of Forestry Departments in CMW to plant trees and shrubs widely and to take care of mineral sources supply.

There are three Forestry Departments that had been established in the region and are functioning at present time: Kislovodsk (covered area is 13126 hectares), Essentuky (3515 hectares) and Beshtau mountainous (12306 hectares). All the plantations are covering the valleys and gorges of Bermamyt plateau rivers, Jinal Ridge spurs, Borgustan plateau, slopes of lakkolithos-mountains such as Mashuk, Beshtau, Zheleznaya, Razvalka and so on. The forest parks covers Pyatigorsk and Zheleznovodsk resorts' territory.

Beshtau mountainous forest park

Beshtau mountainous forest park has the status of nature preserve. It's the lovely place for the rest, excursions and walks for the visitors and inhabitants. It's the biggest one in the area. Its most important arbor types are ash (53%), hornbeam (20%), oak (17%) and beech (7%). There are tracts of nuts and firs here and those of birchs, which are decorative tracts. The lawn steppes are covering the upper part of Beshtau and they seem to look like the alpine meadows in the north slopes. You can meet primrose beautiful, campanula-saxifrage, rhododendron yellow-azalea, and geranium bloody red, mountainous and alpine clover, and corn-chandler usual and so on here. On the slopes of mountains You can see birch with slipping down leaves, common rowan, plenty of goose, rasp and blackberry, forest and walnuts. All these and other plants are to be guarded. There is not too big area of Perkal nursery founded in 1879 here. There are more than 800 different types of arbor, shrub and grass plant, which are growing here. There is a number of sanatoriums here including those for children. They are "Sunny" and "Salute" sanatoriums, "Sunny", "Salute", Lermontov's, "Raduga" and "Eagle Rocks" children resort camps. There are some terrainkur routes, footpath routes for walk, some places for the rest with all resort and visitors services such as cafes provided.

Forest park sights

There are following sights in the Beshtau mountainous tract: Eolov's harp, the Depression, monument at the place of M.U.Lermontov duel, V.I.Lenin's on-rock portrait and so on. Zheleznovodsk Resort Park is the part of the whole Beshtau mountainous forest park. The luxury and different plant of the resort zone streets really differs Zheleznovodsk from other resorts. The park covers Zheleznaya, Beshtau and Razvalka mountains slopes. There are comfortable terrainkur foot routes equipped with the table-notes on all the way long with information just about the station number, route duration and altitude above sea level here in the park. There are the notes of places for the rest, medical points, fountains for the drink, cultural and other objects on the routes. Smirnovskaya, Slavyanovskaya and Nezlobinskaya mineral water sources are also here. The unusual building of Pushkin Gallery attracts everybody's attention just at the entrance of the park. The adornments of the park is the north building of Telman sanatorium (Buhara emir's villa in the past). The cast-iron railings separate the building from the rest part of the park. The park is full of flowers and brushes. But the real adornment of the park is the Cascade staircase with the magnificent view of the Beshtau mountainous forest park and the distant Caucasian Ridge peaks. The park is also full of adornment sculptures, summerhouses and even flowerbeds. Mountains, rocks, enormous fragments of the mountain rocks in combination with the beautiful plant leave an unforgettable impression.

Pyatigorsk resort parks

Beshtau mountainous forest park is situated just next to Provalskaya and Lermontov resort zones, and it covers the slopes of Mashuk Mountain with woods and plants. The park mostly consists of the wide-leaf type trees making very good shadow around. You can find cold and fresh place here even during very hot days. The comfortable footpaths for terrainkur and routes for walk were made here also. One of the walk routes goes through the line around Mashuk Mountain, Provalskaya and Lermontov resort zones through the place of Lermontov's duel. All other routes lead to the peak of Mashuk Mountain. You can climb in a few minutes from the "Lenin's Rocks" sanatorium to the peak of Mashuk Mountain by means of a rope way laid there. The forest park zone is becoming more and more comfortable. There are too many corners for the rest here being buried in foliage and flowers.

Kirov's Recreation park

Not so big S.M.Kirov's Recreation park is located in the center of Pyatigorsk town, and it has the Green theatre, cinema lecturing bureau, reader's salon, dance ground, side-shows, planetarium, stadium, sport school for children and cafes. There is a lake situated here also. Right near to the town resort zone just at the foot of Goryachaya mountain there is a small Tsvetnik park which historically came into being and is burying in foliage and flowers. Its history goes back to 1829. The adornments of the park are Lermontov's gallery, Diana's grotto, Ermolov and Lermontov's baths. You can reach the monument of Eagle that is located on the peak of Goryachaya mountain and Lermontov's grotto from here. Tsvetnik park is situated next to the most important resort and treatment buildings, sanatoriums, hotels, theatres and shops. Thousands of inhabitants and visitors have a rest here. The Armenian and Dubrovka forests, which are situated in the vicinity of Pyatigorsk, have a great recreational significance for the climate here.

Essentuky Resort parks

The Essentuky resort parks have a great recreational and treatment significance also. The Main Resort Park seems to be dividing the Essentuky resort and Essentuky town zones. The foundation history of the Main Resort Park goes back to 1848. It covers the area of more than 60 hectares and is divided into Upper and Low parks because of their especial features. There is the Drinking Gallery in the park, which is the historical and architectural monument. The main pavilion of Esentuky N4 & N1 mineral water sources is situated in the central path of the park. The low path of the central part is called "the way of health". It becomes crowded three times a day: thousands of visitors come to these sources. For the visitor's comfort the beautiful shops to sell the souvenirs or the articles for resort and cafes were built there. There are the diet restaurants and cafes near to the Drinking Gallery. The light summer-houses, fountains, grottoes, cascade stairs and flowers impart this park a particular pure beauty.

Victory park

The second one in Essentuky resort complex is the Victory Park, which has been becoming more and more comfortable over the last years. There were new walk routes made and terrainkur routes marked in this park that was neglected at one time. The great attention is been paid to the decorative design of arboreal and shrub plants here. The Eternal Fire is burning in the park center in memory of the Essentuky town inhabitants lost in Civil and Great Patriotic Wars. The main sources of Essentuky N4 & N17, readers' salon, aerosolarium and side-shows are situated in the most comfortable places. The reconstruction and park improvement woks are still going on here.

Kislovodsk resort park

Kislovodsk resort park was founded along the Olhovka river in 1823. Its area covers about 1340 hectares. It begins in town and climbs for many kilometers up to the mountains. It is divided into three parts. The Low Park begins at Narzans' Gallery and ends at both the Rose Square and Birch Hill. The Middle Park starts from here and goes up to the Air Church where the Upper Park begins in its turn. The Narzans' Gallery is situated at the entrance of the park and there are the Lermontov's site and the Colonnade next to it. The terrainkur routes begin at Narzans' Gallery. The park is called as Pearl of Resort. There are more than 250 types of the arbors and shrubs among which you can find pine, horn- beam, oak, ash and so on. The great attention is been paid to the decorative design of the park. The Park is beautiful all year long. It's beautiful all year long regardless of the season. The Olkhovka mountainous river runs down the stream and can be very changeable in the periods of rains. But the real decorations of the park are the Mirror Pool and Glass Stream. It was a bath-house here in the past and it is a small pond now with pure stream of wide water thread running down from it. The Pervomayskaya meadow is a park sightseeing. It is surrounded by the chain of green mountain slopes. The Song Holiday and other national holidays are taken place here with about 100 thousand onlookers involved. You can see a white cover of the Air Church among the birches near to and upper from the Pervomayskaya meadow. It's one of the most beautiful place to observe Elbrus Mountain and even Main Caucasian Ridge peaks. It will take You up to 5 minutes to reach the Blue Mountains' peak by means of the rope way if You start at the Air Church. There are the resort swimming pool, cafe and beautiful Rose Valley that situated not far from the Air Church. The park is very comfortable. There are the cafes, bars, places for the rest, drinking fountains and everything You need along this route. The park is very important part of sanatorium and resort system.

The resort parks of Caucasian Mineral Waters were given the status of unique and natural anthropogenetic geological system, and even became work of decorative landscape art. They belong to the main resort funds. There are two lakes in the vicinity of Kislovodsk - the old one, located in the wide valley of Alikonovka River and the new one - in Podkumok river valley (at the Darinskie Hights). There are the boat station in the old lake with the beach and all necessary stocks for climate therapy, first aid station and drinking fountains. There is the green resort zone and even cafe also here. The new lake is five times as large bigger than the old one and it is becoming more and more comfortable. The Essentuky town lake is situated near to the Belyi Ugol railway station of Podkumok River valley. There are boat station and beach, equipped with canvases and all necessary stocks, first aid station, green resort zone, restaurant, cafe, the commercial shops and so on. Pyatigorsk town lake is also very popular and situated in the wide Podkumok river valley just near to the New-Pyatigorsk railway station. Thousands of Pyatigorsk inhabitants and visitors have their rest in the comfortable beaches and surrounding places. There are boat station, beach, equipped with canvases and necessary inventory, first aid station, green resort zone, restaurant, cafe, commercial shops and so on. You can reach most of mountainous lakes by bus and by walk.
