Narzans' Valley

"Narzans' Valley" is located 34 km south of Kislovodsk in the Hasaut river valley (it is the Malka river tributary falling into Terek River) and just at the foot of Big Caucasus mountainous rocky ridge (at 1300 meters altitude and near to the boundary between Stavropol region and Kabardin-Balkarian Republic).

The road from Kislovodsk to Narzans' valley comes through the Kabardin ridge with its rich sub-alpine meadows, through Kichi-Balyk village (it means a "Small Fish") and then through the Bermamyt plateau. There is a wonderful view of Elbrus Mountain in all its grandeur and beauty just before the way down the Hasaut river valley. The "Narzans' Valley" is separated by steep and very picturesque slopes of rocky mountain ridge from the north, by the Harbaz ridge from the south, by chain of rocky ridges from the east and by the Hasaut river valley from the west. You can see "Narzans' Valley" tourist camp (with its cafe and shop) which is located just at the entrance of the "Narzans' Valley" if you are approaching from the Bermamyt plateau's side.

There are 17 sources of narzan mineral water type in the "Narzans' Valley". The specific characteristics of their mineral waters are well known all over the world.


Climate

The climate of Narzans' Valley is temperately continental. The winter is very soft and with changeable coat of snow. The average temperature in January is minus 5°С. Summer is warm and rainy here. The average temperature in August is 20°С. The average precipitation is 700 mm per year. The high sun shining duration (more than 2000 hours per year), the great number of sunny days, especially during autumn and winter time frame when the high air limpidity makes exceptional healthy microclimate here.


Relief

The "Narzans' Valley" has clearly expressed characteristics of mountain landscape which is of specific beauty. The sub-alpine meadows, forest, mineral water sources and rivers are in the neighbourhood to each other here. While moving through the "Narzans' Valley" You can see the Djily-Su warm mineral source which is located at the foot of Elbrus Mountain, and then You should go forward to Baksan through Kyrtyk-Aush. You can walk from "Narzans' Valley" to the Waterfalls of the Hasaut and Mush rivers up, then to the mouth of the Malka river, and then to Lakhran and Harbaz outlook. All trips and excursions up to the "Narzans' Valley" are possible all over the year due to convenient climate circumstances.
